MOHEL

A Sacred Journey: Combining Medical Expertise with Ancient Tradition

The Talmud teaches us that "circumcision is so important that it supersedes the Sabbath" (Talmud, Shabbat 137a). As a medical professional and certified Mohel, I've dedicated my life to this sacred commandment that our sages describe as "equivalent to all the other commandments combined" (Nedarim 32a).
My journey began in 2001 in St. Petersburg, Russia, where, as a third-year medical student, I was privileged to study under the guidance of renowned Mohel Menachem-Mendel Freidzon. Those early years laid the foundation for what would become my life's calling, performing brit milah across multiple continents and cultures.
One of my most profound moments came when I performed the brit milah for my own firstborn son, earning recognition from the esteemed Mohel Rav Shimshon Eisenberger. This personal experience deepened my understanding of the Midrash's teaching that "When one performs a brit milah, it is as if they have built an altar and offered a sacrifice upon it" (Shabbat 137b).
My commitment to excellence led me to enhance my surgical expertise in the urology department at Hadassah Hospital in Jerusalem. This medical training, combined with my dedication to Jewish law and tradition, allows me to uphold the highest standards of both worlds. As our sages teach, "The Holy One blessed be He gave circumcision on the eighth day out of concern for the infant's strength" (Bereishit Rabbah 46:12) - demonstrating the Torah's emphasis on both the spiritual and medical aspects of this mitzvah.
Having performed brit milah ceremonies across Russia, Ukraine, Germany, China, Estonia, India, and Hong Kong, I've witnessed how this ancient covenant continues to unite Jewish communities worldwide. In 2022, I achieved certification as a Mohel for adults from the Chief Rabbinate of Israel, expanding my ability to serve the Jewish people at all life stages.
