My journey as a Mohel began in early 2001 when I was a third-year medical student in St. Petersburg, Russia. I had the opportunity to study under one of the most renowned Mohels in the former USSR, Menachem-Mendel Freidzon, and together we performed circumcisions on infants and adults in various cities across Russia. I performed my first Brit Milah under his strict supervision, and it was a momentous occasion for me.
After moving to Israel, I continued to practice Brit Milah and had the privilege of performing the circumcision of my own firstborn son, which was a deeply meaningful experience. This led to warm praise and a written recommendation from a world-famous Mohel rav Shimshon Eisenberger, who was present at the ceremony, which further fueled my passion for this sacred practice.
In my quest to deepen my knowledge and skills, I got acquainted with the
Brit Yosef-Yitzhak organization, and under its auspices, I had the opportunity to perform circumcisions in various parts of the world, including Russia, Ukraine, Germany, Estonia, India, Hong Kong, and many more. I am grateful for the opportunity to serve families in preserving this important tradition.
In 2022, I was officially certified by the Chief Rabbinate of Israel as a Mohel for adults, which was a significant milestone in my career. In my practice as a Mohel, I incorporate the surgical expertise and sterility protocols that I acquired from my medical background, utilizing modern hemostatic and dressing materials to ensure the highest standard of care for my patients. As a Mohel, I am often asked questions about how to prepare for a Brit Milah ceremony and how to care for the wound post-circumcision. I provide detailed instructions to parents (see below in the “FAQ” section).
